Who we are
The Boone County Schools Technology Department ("BCS Tech," "we," "us") operates bcstech.info and the tools hosted on it. Boone County Schools is a public school district in Kentucky.
Who this applies to
This policy applies to:
- District staff (teachers, administrators, support staff) using the Help Center or other tools on this site
- School Technology Coordinators (STCs) and IT staff with elevated access
This site is not intended for use by students. Student data is governed separately under applicable FERPA, COPPA, and Kentucky law requirements.
What information we collect
When you sign in to the Help Center or other authenticated tools, we collect:
- Google account information — your name and district email address, provided through Google Sign-In using your BCS Google Workspace account
- Building assignment — the school or building you select when setting up your profile
- Role — your access tier (staff, STC, or IT Admin), assigned by the technology department
- Usage data — pages visited, articles viewed, and tickets submitted through this site
We do not collect passwords, personal financial information, or student data through this site.
How we use this information
- To identify your building and role so we can show you the right content
- To allow IT staff to manage access and permissions
- To improve the Help Center content based on what topics and articles staff are viewing
- To send notifications about tickets or knowledge base updates (when configured)
Who we share information with
We do not sell your information. We share limited data with the following service providers solely to operate this site:
- Google Firebase — authentication, database, and hosting infrastructure
- Netlify — static web hosting
- Google Workspace — sign-in is handled through your existing district account
These providers are bound by their own privacy and data processing agreements. We do not share your information with advertisers or third-party marketing companies.
Data retention
User profiles and access logs are retained as long as you are an active district employee. When you leave the district, your profile will be deactivated. You may request deletion by contacting the technology department.
Your rights
As a district employee, you may:
- Request to view the information we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account and data

Cookies and local storage
This site uses browser local storage to cache your profile and preferences between sessions. No third-party tracking cookies are used.
Children's privacy
This site is for district staff only and is not directed at children under 13. If a student account is inadvertently used, contact the technology department immediately.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
